“Nothing is more fleeting than external form, which withers and alters like flowers of the field at the appearance of autumn.” - Umberto Eco

Working with a corps of twelve beauty contestants, a more revealing expression of the temporal nature of beauty is explored. One that transcends the forced stylization and asphyxiation of the media machine. Here Noto strives to reveal an inner reality within their state of disrepair. The political is confronted in these contestants who have failed to win. The result is a photo-narrative in which interior and exterior switch roles and human fairly normally guarded and hidden within is brought startlingly to the surface.
